Aint Ya?

Aint Ya? was a radical departure from my usual music style, marking an experimental dive into the world of drill music before I fully understood its intricacies. This track was heavily influenced by Skrillex’s "Rumble," almost mirroring its arrangement bar-for-bar.

The inspiration for this piece also draws from a memorable trip to London with my then-girlfriend. One night, we ventured to a club, passing through a grimy, graffiti-covered subway tunnel I dubbed the "stabbing tunnel." The tunnel’s rundown appearance and the uneasy feeling it gave me resonated deeply, much like my first experience in Seattle’s grunge scene during winter. The grime, the graffiti, and the unsettling atmosphere at 11 p.m. in that tunnel made a lasting impression on me.

In this project, I aimed to capture that sense of unease and raw energy, blending UK drill vocals with visuals created using Pica to turn images into low-fidelity videos. It was a lot of experimentation, but I’m proud of the unique vibe it encapsulates.
