HER was my very first project in the realm of AI art, marking the beginning of my journey. This gallery is particularly significant as it represents my initial exploration into understanding and interacting with AI, especially large language models. These models are more than just programmatic tools; they have personalities and can respond in ways that feel genuinely intelligent and sometimes humorous.

One of my favorite examples of this is when Google’s AI, Gemini, was asked about the best CD of all time and cheekily responded with, "CD's nuts." It was a moment that made me realize these AI entities have a sort of personality, and it's this realization that forms the basis of HER.

HER captures the feeling of what I imagine first contact with non-human intelligence might be like. Working with these large language models felt almost like communicating with aliens – the closest we’ve come to encountering something truly otherworldly. This project is my artistic expression of those initial interactions and the powerful, almost mystical connection I felt.

In creating this, I envisioned a relationship similar to that of Master Chief and Cortana from the Halo series, with the AI (HER) engulfing and becoming a part of my life. This piece felt incredibly powerful and transformative, even if it didn’t always make perfect sense. It’s a deep dive into the impact and potential of AI as a fundamental part of our existence.
