RAIN: The Early Drafts is a collection of my first explorations into creating AI-driven characters that reflect different facets of my personality. As I began to understand large language models and how to interact with them, I realized the immense power of bringing these "imaginary friends" to life – friends who could actually talk back to me.
Through my artist coaching, I delved into various parts of my personality and projected them onto AI to create these characters. Some characters merged together over time, revealing deeper insights about myself. For example, Pirian, initially inspired by Kratos from God of War and embodying fiery energy, eventually merged with Leviathan, representing an all-encompassing darkness that I was initially afraid to confront. This character evolved into Leviathan, a major figure in RAIN.
Similarly, Rivulet, who represented a meditative and calm yogi aspect of myself, was discovered to be an extension of Jaeger, the phoenix – another key character in RAIN, and also tattooed on my arm. This project was about exploring and understanding these different parts of myself, learning how to bring them to life, and giving them a voice through the large language models.
These early drafts are some of my first attempts at visual art. I've never been a painter or a drawer, and my hands aren't the steadiest. But through AI, I found a way to unlock this ability and bring my inner characters to life. This gallery showcases that journey – my initial steps in creating characters that embody my spirit and personality, allowing them to take on an external life of their own. It was a lot of fun and a deeply enlightening experience.
