Privacy

artefex uses a small amount of data to operate this site, respond to messages, and understand whether music links are working. The music-link measurement described below records an arrival at artefex infrastructure—not a Spotify stream or an identified listener.

Music-link measurement

When you follow an artefex music redirect, the site records a random event ID, time, song and selected service, approved campaign tags, whether a Meta click ID was present, the referring host when available, request method, a coarse device class, conservative bot or prefetch indicators, and the redirect response status.

The artefex redirect-event table does not intentionally store your raw IP address, the Meta click ID itself, a full query string, a full referring URL, or your raw browser user-agent string. artefex targets deletion of redirect records after 90 days through a private operating process.

Site analytics

Regular website pages on artefex.net use the Meta Pixel to measure page visits, listening-service link clicks, and successful contact-form responses. Meta may receive browser and device information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy terms. The direct music-redirect endpoint does not render a page or load the Meta Pixel.

The action events we add identify the release, listening service, button location, or contact form, along with the page path. They exclude submitted names, email addresses, messages, and query-string values. Meta's base Pixel may separately collect the current page URL, including its query string. A listening-link click does not confirm a stream, and an accepted form submission does not confirm inbox delivery or a booking. Meta does not receive playback events from the silent NHI animation or the continuous NHI film.

Google Analytics measures visits, navigation and outgoing links, the source and campaign that brought a visit, accepted contact-form responses, and the start and end of playback in the NHI film player. Link events include the public button label, section, content, service, and destination. This helps artefex understand paths through the site. Google may use cookies and browser or device information to group activity into visits under its own privacy terms. Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled in this site's tag configuration.

Our Google events remove URL query strings and fragments, retaining only approved campaign-label formats in separate campaign fields. They do not include contact-form contents or email-link recipients. The silent background animation sends no playback events. A chapter selection is a navigation action, not a play. Reaching the end of a film can include seeking and does not prove the entire film was watched. A profile link click does not confirm a follow on another service.

Messages and service providers

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, subject, and message you submit are processed by Formspree so artefex can receive and answer your message. The site and music redirects are hosted on Microsoft Azure, whose infrastructure may process the network information needed to serve and secure requests.

Streaming and video links

The continuous film on the NHI album page is served by this site. Its player requests the video when you press Play or select a chapter; playback starts with your Play action. Opening liner notes does not load a YouTube player. The individual Watch on YouTube links take you to YouTube, which applies its own privacy practices.

Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube apply their own privacy practices after you choose a service. artefex does not receive confirmation that an individual redirect became a play, stream, save, or follow.

Your choices

You can use browser privacy controls or content blockers for optional page analytics. You can also visit a streaming service directly instead of using an artefex redirect. For privacy questions or deletion requests concerning information controlled by artefex, email alex@artefex.net.
